The image of my family and I sitting around my dinner table, using plates, bowls, and mugs that I had made myself was the motivation for this show. However, creating forms like mugs and creating sets, are not taught until the advanced level. This did not stop me though. After much time in the studio, both in and outside of class, I was happy with my forms. As it turned out, figuring out how to make handles and how to create my set was the easy part, it was figuring out how to stand out from others that I had to think about the most. I wanted to make the uniqueness of my art happen in the glaze. After testing a few glazes, I decided on doing a full dip into the oasis glaze, with just the rims dipped in metallic black. I loved how each piece was a little different than the next, but still very similar. I look forward to learning more and eventually becoming an IB student.
